Oltiin ruokkimassa sorsia Lintulammella. Paikalla oli viiskytä sorsaa, yksi pulu, yksi lokki ja yksi hamppari. Ruokittiin kuitenkin vaan sorsia. Hamppari luovutti kun alko näyttää siltä, ettei se saa yhtään leipää. Pulu ja lokki jaksoivat viimeiseen asti elätellä toivoa.
We went feeding the ducks to Lintulampi (a pond about 100 yards from our house). There were about fifty ducks, one pigeon, one seagull and one wino. We only fed the ducks. The wino left when he got convinced that he wouldn’t get any bread. The pigeon and the seagull had their hopes up the whole time.
Sorsat innostuivat tosi paljon ruokkimisesta ja uivat vauhdilla vastarannalta asti syömään. Poikaset oli jo tosi isoja. Ne erotti vaan siitä, että niillä oli musta nokka, ei keltainen niin kuin aikuisilla. Kun poikaset söivät, aikuiset pysyttelivät kohteliaasti taka-alalla, vaikka keskenään taistelivatkin rehvakkaasti.
The ducks were really hyped up about the feeding, and swam from accross the pond to eat. The ducklings were already really big. They could only be differentiated from the adults by the fact that the had a black beak, instead of orange. When the ducklings ate, adults held back politely even though they fought aggressively about their own share.
